about us
Our Mission Statement
In the Gospels, Jesus welcomed children when others tried to turn them away, reminding His disciples to let them come to Him. For over 70 years, the Church of God Home for Children in North Carolina has carried out that same mission, serving children who face neglect, abuse, and broken homes—many with no one to guide them to Christ. This ministry depends not on government, but on the partnership of churches and compassionate individuals who are willing to make a difference. You can help bring hope, healing, and the love of God into a child’s life. We invite you to join us in this mission and be part of changing lives by helping bring children to Jesus.

Our History
In 1944, Our Home was born out of necessity when two young girls were brought to the home of Reverend A.V. Childers, pastor of Elm Street Church of God (now Kannapolis Church of God). The means to provide care for these girls, and future children, came from local businessman Charles A. Cannon, owner of Cannon Mills. Mr. Cannon donated seven acres of land and a farm house after Rev. Childers came to him for assistance. Additionally, Elm Street Church of God rose to the aid of children in need by donating $10,000 to begin the ministry of Our Home. Hundreds of hurting children have been impacted by the generosity of these pioneers of Our Home and with your help, hundreds more will experience a safe, loving home.
